Mark Jarmie is an experienced mediator. He attended Pepperdine University’s prestigious Straus Institute for Dispute Resolution to obtain advanced training in dispute resolution and has successfully mediated cases in New Mexico and Texas. He is routinely appointed to conduct mediations and arbitrations, and to serve as a hearing officer.
Jarmie & Rogers handles a variety of tort defense cases on behalf of public and private clients. These cases vary in complexity from slip and falls on a municipal sidewalk to catastrophic vehicle crashes on New Mexico’s highways. We have tried numerous tort cases to successful verdicts in New Mexico’s state and federal courts.
LAW ENFORCEMENT LIABILITY
We defend state and local police agencies and officers in civil rights and tort cases, including cases involving vehicle pursuits, all types of uses of force and decisions regarding arrest and criminal charges. We also assist law enforcement agencies and officers in staying abreast of current legal developments.
The firm successfully handles appeals in both the federal and state appellate courts, including merits appeals, applications for interlocutory review, and briefs of behalf of amicus curiae. The firm has successfully petitioned for review in the United States Supreme Court, where we prevailed on behalf of our clients.
Jarmie & Rogers defends complex civil rights lawsuits, including First and Fourth Amendment, due process and equal protection claims brought under Section 1983 against state, county, and local agencies and employees. The firm’s successful motion practice has led to the dismissal of numerous civil rights cases.
